Nearly 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland were left without power on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events swept through the region, producing powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.

Substantial Ice Stones and Broad Destruction

Residents observed large ice chunks measuring up to 7 centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts verified that various areas across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Victorian Weather Woes

Simultaneously, approximately one thousand residents in Victoria also experienced power outages after the capital city recorded its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.

Rescue organizations handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mostly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

• Werribee region - saw considerable destruction
• Hoppers Crossing area - numerous assistance requests
• Wyndham area - nearly 180 emergency requests

During the peak on the previous day, over 28,000 energy customers in the state were lacking electricity.

Weather Forecast

Moist weather were forecast to persist along large portions of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with continued severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both regions.

Safety Concern

Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
